Who We Are

Welcome to Adur Art Club.  We are a friendly club with members of all abilities and painting styles.  Our common interest is a love of drawing and painting and we hope you will enjoy being a member of this club. We currently have 75 members at the Club (only a few were brave enough to put their photos on this site!).

The current (2017) annual subscription is £40.00 which entitles you to attend as many meetings as you wish.  Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided (we request a voluntary donation towards the costs).  We have a varied programme including workshops by club members, life drawing and demonstrations by professional artists.  A small additional charge is made when attending workshops and demonstrations.  Non-members may accompany members to demonstrations and talks.

The Club holds an annual exhibition where members choose which of their own framed and unframed paintings to exhibit.  There is no selection committee.  A charge is made by the Club for each painting entered and a percentage, currently 15%, of the price of any exhibit sold is payable to the Club.  Details of this are given prior to the exhibition.  At the start of the exhibition the Club holds a preview evening which is opened by an invited guest.  This is usually well attended and you can be accompanied by one guest; purchasers of paintings from previous exhibitions are also invited.   After the end of the exhibition four cups are awarded.

Your membership card gives you reductions on art materials from local stationers.

The Club Committee organise the day-to-day running of the Club on behalf of all members.  They are elected each year at the AGM which is held in January or February.  The Exhibition Committee undertakes the setting up and running of the annual exhibition.

The Club has a library of art books, magazines and videos which members may borrow.

If you are interested in joining us at the Adur Art Club, please come along to one of our weekly meetings and you will be issued with an application form and programme.  If you then decide we are the Club for you, you will be requested to pay the annual membership fee of £40.00 to our Treasurer, Pam Mahoney, cheques made payable to Adur Art Club.  There is usually a reduced fee if joining at the end of the year.  It is not necessary to bring a portfolio of work, we accept members of all standards, from beginners to professional.  Just come along and enjoy the company of fellow artists.

Welcome
